What is not on these pages
There is no form anywhere on the site, so there is no field to fill in and nothing to submit. There are no accounts and no sign-in, so nothing is stored against a name. No advertising network is present. No analytics script runs. No tracking pixel, social widget, comment system or embedded video loads from another host. No cookie is set by this site. The typefaces are served from this domain, so reading a page here does not announce the visit to a font provider, and the pages ship no browser scripts at all.
What the hosting provider sees
A request for a page reaches a hosting provider before it reaches this publication, and providers keep server logs as a matter of course: a network address, a timestamp, the page requested, the browser string that asked for it. That is true of essentially every site on the internet and it is worth saying plainly instead of claiming an absence that is not in this publication's gift. Those logs belong to the provider. This publication builds no profile from them, and nothing on this site connects a request to a person.
If you write to the desk
Email sent to the editorial desk sits in a mailbox and is used to answer you and to check whatever the message reports. It is not added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list. It is not sold, rented or passed to anyone else. Where a correction leads to a change on a page, the person who sent it is not named unless they ask to be.
